My local organics box! artichokes emerging from the box on Flickr.Via Flickr:
It’s true, yesterday we received our organic box from Ceres, but today we saw that the pals from Local Organics had this amazing box plus organic milk, bread and eggs on sale, and we didn’t think twice and bought it :D They are super kind, and the products are amazing. :D It’s location is pretty good, half a block from the corner of Brunswick and Nicholson! For us just great.

The power of we: The Colca Canyon, in Peru, is one of the deepest canyons in the world, many rural communities live there and for many generations they have been producing their own food and fair trading with different communities. In this area the land has been producing food with the hard work of a group of people who believe in the power of sharing not only the food but also their lands. You can see them very early in the morning in Cabanaconde, leaving their homes and walking to the farms. They still use donkeys on their labours. When the setting sun brings us the last photons, you can find the locals eating a huge plate of food in small restaurants or kioskos. If you are not afraid of local food you can share with dinner with them, talk about the history of the land and the places surrounding it. You can learn a lot. Maybe this people can help us, help everybody who is struggling to manage a co-op, community garden or a multi-owner crop production.
